Hi, I'm Carla and I am a high school student currently living in Santa Cruz, California. I am originally from Bonn, Germany and I spent my exchange year here in the US, sadly it is almost over and I will be going back this coming June.

I grew up with my dad always taking pictures and taking his camera on every trip we went and I started taking pictures early on with his camera. Today I love taking pictures and I basically take my camera everywhere I go, I am especially interested in Portrait and Travel Photography. I am also very interested in cinematography and filmmaking, but I am still learning about that. In school I took a semester of photography, that also taught me editing and photoshop skills. Photography is a hobby that I am still learning a lot about, it teaches me to really see, not just through the lens, and to appreciate the beauty in every little thing and in nature.

I am very inspired by traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people often changes my perspective on things and makes me be more positive and open. I love capturing moments with my camera and being able to share them and also looking back on wonderful memories. I enjoy photographing different faces and people and trying to really capture that person's character and beauty. There are a lot of Portrait Photographers, who also often inccorperate nature in their shots, that inspire me and that I look up to, I mostly find them on Instagram or YouTube.

In addition to photography I like to draw and paint, I definitely want to do something creative when I am older. I am also interested in fashion and makeup. Back in Germany I did judo for about seven years and I took singing lessons. In high school I am participating in the theatre and choir program and I played lacrosse for a season.
